Digital Cameras
Digital cameras are similar to a regular film camera in that they both take pictures, but a digital version doesn’t use any film to store the photograph. Instead the light is recorded onto a digital sensor that then converts the image into digital bits that can be stored on the cameras memory unit. This means that film never has to be purchased as the pictures can be uploaded to devices with more memory and then deleted.
Digital cameras come in a variety of shapes, sizes and price ranges depending on the photographers needs. There are high end professional digital SLRs which have interchangeable lenses and the largest image sensors. Some are capable of shooting pictures with over 20 megapixel resolution. That is 20 million pixels, a regular TV screen only supports 345,000.
Digital cameras are more often found in the $400 and less range which still offers very high resolution pictures but in a much more sleek and streamlined design that can easily fit into pockets, purses, and other tight places making them ideal for everyday use and travelling. They often have large displays for snapping and sharing pics and many can also take motion pictures.
